Since the announcement of the Europa Series of banknotes, Currency Issue Division (CID) have actively engaged with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful launch of each new note.
The new ES2 €20 banknote will be issued on 25 November 2015. On 19 March 2015, CID held a National ES2 €20 Seminar, which was attended by key stakeholders in the cash cycle; representatives from the banking industry, cash in transit companies, credit unions, banknote equipment manufacturers, machine suppliers, transport companies, government bodies and industry representative bodies.
The aims of the seminar were to:
- Introduce the new €20 banknote and its security features;
- Discuss with stakeholders the importance of being ready for ES2 €20 on 25 November 2015 and to show them the resources that are available to them to assist with their preparations;
- To provide a forum for stakeholders to discuss any suggestions or concerns they may have about the launch, and the cash cycle; and
- To allow CID to learn from stakeholders and answer any questions on the launch.
A communications expert from the ECB also gave a presentation on the ECB’s Partnership Programme, which offers a wide range of educational tools and materials, to assist with the launch of ES2 €20. The Partnership Programme is open to all third parties who would like to receive information on the launch of the new banknote. Further information is available here.
