Bridging the Gap Programme 2019/2020

Bridging the Gap

Central Bank of Ireland’s Bridging the Gap Programme, in partnership with Rathmines College, is designed to support motivated individuals to advance their education while participating in a paid work placement. The programme offers a fully funded place on a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 5 course at Rathmines College and a paid summer internship at the Central Bank.

We are looking for people of all backgrounds, who are passionate, energetic and driven to achieve their career goals. If you would like to progress in your career and feel that a QQI Level 5 qualification could help you to do that, this may be the opportunity for you.

What You Will Get

As part of the Bridging the Gap Programme, you will:

  • Gain a fully funded place on an enriching and challenging QQI Level 5 course in Rathmines College, from 12 September 2019 to 29 May 2020.
  • Receive career development guidance from your own mentor at the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Complete a two-week unpaid placement at the Central Bank as part of your course where you can apply the knowledge and skills you have learned.
  • Partake in a paid summer internship at the Central Bank to gain experience of working in a corporate environment from June 2020 until August 2020.
  • Be automatically shortlisted to the interview stage for the Central Bank’s Scholarship Programme 2020/2021.

Course Selection

Successful candidates will be offered a place on one of the below one-year full-time Level 5 QQI Certificate courses at Rathmines College. These courses commence on 12 September 2019.

On completion of the course, you will undertake a paid summer internship at the Central Bank of Ireland from June 2020 until August 2020. You will work in one of a range of business areas on projects that contribute to the financial stability of the economy and the protection of consumers.

Participants of the Bridging the Gap programme will also be shortlisted for interview into the Central Bank’s Scholarship Programme at the conclusion of their summer internship.

What We’re Looking For

If you have these skills and attributes, we want to hear from you:

  • You want to learn
  • You are driven, motivated and a self-starter
  • You are eligible for the QQI Level 5 course and this would represent the highest level of your academic qualifications to date.

If you have previous working experience or have completed an internship within financial services or a related area, that’s great. However, it is by no means a requirement.
