Schools through to Generation €uro Round 2 announced

The Central Bank has announced the schools that have successfully progressed to Round 2 of the Generation €uro Students’ Award for 2015-2016. Over 280 students entered this year’s competition which challenges Transition Year students across Ireland to learn about monetary policy.

The following schools were successful in Round 1:

  4. Colaiste Iosaef
  5. Colaiste Mhuire Co-Ed
  6. Glenamaddy Community School
  7. Glenstal Abbey School
  8. Jesus and Mary College
  9. Knockbeg College
  10. Mercy Secondary School Ballymahon
  11. Portumna Community School
  12. Regina Mundi College
  13. Scariff Community College
  14. St. Benildus College
  15. St. Declan's Community College
  16. St. Gerald’s College
  17. St. Louis Secondary School
  18. St. Oliver's Community College
  19. Summerhill College Sligo

The students will now compete to be crowned National Winners of the competition and represent Ireland at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt next May.

Notes

The Generation €uro Students’ Award is a euro area initiative organised by the European Central Bank (ECB) and participating national central banks across the euro area including the Central Bank of Ireland. Further information is available at www.generationeuro.ie.

The competition is now in its fifth year and consists of three rounds including an online quiz, a group assignment and a presentation by three finalist teams to a panel of senior economists at the Central Bank of Ireland.

The National Winners will represent Ireland at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt next May.
