Insurance Brokers / Intermediaries 

An Insurance Broker / Intermediary must be authorised / registered if they wish to carry out the activity of insurance mediation or provide advice to consumers in relation to:

  • general insurance products;
  • life assurance products;
  • health and medical insurance products.

or act as an insurance intermediary on behalf of an insurance company with which they have an agreement or carry out certain specified activities e.g. loss assessing and assisting consumers in dealing with claims under insurance contracts.

It is an offence to engage in any activity outlined above without being registered with the Central Bank of Ireland.
