PhD Internships

Every year, Central Bank of Ireland hosts PhD researchers who conduct high-quality analysis on policy-relevant topics.

About the programme

Our PhD interns work closely with fellow Central Bank of Ireland researchers on topics relevant to us, while we seek to align projects with the researchers’ interests and skills. We strongly encourage the PhD interns to co-author papers with our researchers and publish them in academic journals. Also, the PhD interns will benefit from working onsite together with experienced researchers and technical staff.

Who should apply?

The programme is aimed at PhD students (or recent graduates) in Economics, Finance or related fields, with excellent data and analytical skills, as well as strong econometric knowledge.

Duration

Our PhD Internship Programme can last up to one year, albeit shorter internships are considered.

Funding

PhD interns are paid in line with salary scales for entry-level researchers i.e. our Bank Executive salary scale.

How to apply?

We hold an open competition once a year. The call for applicants for 2024 has now closed. Further details on the call for applicants for 2025 will be announced in early 2025.
