This year's tagline is Invest in Your Future. Protect It Today. And it really resonates with us here at the Central Bank.
I especially applaud IOSCO’s focus on combatting frauds and scams, and on raising financial literacy.
Here in Ireland, we have introduced new rules to strengthen protections against frauds and scams, and to better safeguard consumers using financial services online.
We are also supporting the Government's National Financial Literacy Strategy, including looking ahead to the Government’s introduction of a new Investment Account.
The key word is “confidence”.
When we feel protected and informed, we feel confident. That confidence strengthens our ability to build a more secure financial future for ourselves, and to look after our own financial wellbeing and that of those we love.
So I want to thank IOSCO for its global leadership in making investment services safer and better for all of us.
