Our New Strategy 2028 – 2032: Have Your Say
Central Bank of Ireland is developing a new strategy to guide our work from 2028 to 2032, and we welcome your views and insights.
Our current strategy, which runs until the end of 2027, has delivered significant progress in protecting consumers and strengthening financial stability. This includes ensuring faster and safer payments for consumers, strengthening consumer protections through an updated Consumer Protection Code, launching programmes to test innovative financial services and establishing a dedicated team to address climate risks, and reinforcing our regulatory framework.
Inside the Central Bank, we have strengthened our analytical capabilities to anticipate change, enhanced our policy and supervisory frameworks, deepened our engagement with stakeholders, and transformed how we operate to work more efficiently and innovatively.
The implementation of our current strategy ensures that we can deliver on our mission of serving the public interest by maintaining monetary and financial stability while ensuring that the financial system operates in the best interest of consumers and the wider economy.
Building on this foundation, we are now planning for the medium term to ensure we remain fit and capable for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The world has changed considerably, with new technology, climate risks, and evolving banking practices. We need to think carefully about our strategic priorities for the medium-term so that we continue to maintain financial stability, protect consumers, and support Ireland's economy. The new strategy will be approved by our Commission in May 2027 and presented to the Minister for Finance in September 2027.
Your perspective matters. Whether you use financial services, work in the industry, run a business, or have an interest in how Ireland's financial system operates, we want to hear your views on what should shape our priorities. We invite you to complete a short survey which will allow your perspectives to be heard. The survey will run until 16 October 2026.
Vasileios Madouros, Deputy Governor, Monetary and Financial Stability, Central Bank of Ireland
The economy and financial system continue to evolve at a very rapid pace. In response, at the Central Bank, over the past number of years, we've strengthened our analytical capabilities, enhanced our supervisory frameworks, and deepened our engagement with stakeholders. That has helped us better anticipate and respond to change, and ultimately deliver our mandate.
But the pace of change is not slowing down. Geopolitical developments are shaping every element of economic life. Technology is transforming how people bank and invest. Climate risks are reshaping financial markets. New forms of money are emerging. Throughout this, we need to ensure the financial system continues to serve households and businesses.
That's why we want to hear from you.
Our next strategy will take effect from 2028. And whether you're a consumer managing your finances, a business owner navigating the economy, or someone working in financial services, we want to hear from you.
From September to October 2026, we're inviting your feedback through an online survey.
This is an opportunity for you to influence the Central Bank's priorities and strategic direction, helping us address these emerging challenges.
