Central Bank of Ireland has won six awards at the highly competitive Social Media Awards (AKA “the Sockies”) 2022, which were hosted by Rick O’Shea in Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin on 26 May 2022.

The Central Bank scooped a total of six awards on the night, including the overall “Grand Prix” prize and “Best In-house Team” award. These are two particularly special accolades as they recognise the achievements of one organisation chosen from all of the Sockies’ finalists. It was the first time the Central Bank won the top prize and recognises our digital-first approach to creating content, with a focus on original, plain language, audience-focused visual content underpinned by strong branding. The awards also acknowledge the variety of content, processes, results and in-house capabilities the Central Bank has developed in recent years.

In the individual categories, the Central Bank scooped two gold awards: for “Social Media Strategy - State Body” and “Social Media - LinkedIn”. The Social Media Strategy - State Body award recognises the strategic content shared on our social media channels to engage, explain and educate our audiences about our role in maintaining monetary and financial stability and protecting consumers. The Social Media – LinkedIn Award was presented primarily for our recent Credit Institutions Directorate employer brand campaign. Over the past five years, LinkedIn has become the Central Bank’s primary social media channel – with growth in followers of 368% over the five years up to March 2022, and now standing at over 61,000 followers.

The Central Bank also received two silver awards in the “Social Media for a Financial Organisation” and “Content Creation (In-house)” categories and overcame stiff competition on the night from other organisations.
