This seminar explores how best to achieve the desired outcomes outlined in the National Payments Strategy and the Eurosystem’s Retail Payment Strategy, across the diverse banking, payments, and fintech sectors in Ireland. Discussion will centre on where the private sector is moving in retail payments, and the importance of public-private partnerships in moving towards a more efficient, resilient, and integrated payments ecosystem. As a country and as a market, Ireland utilises payment infrastructures that have pan-European or global reach over domestic arrangements. Ireland’s role as a small, outward-looking, open European economy with linkages to the US and the UK contributes a unique perspective when working with Eurosystem colleagues to bridge the divide between traditional payments models and innovative emerging technologies.
